During his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping extended his invitation to Germany as the Guest of Honor Nation at the 16th WCIF.The invitation was listed on the Follow-up of the Chinese Visit of German Chancellor Merkel Received by Primer Li Keqiang issued by the office of Li Keqiang and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agenda was supported by the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. Sichuan province considers the agenda a top priority and a significant opportunity to promote the creation of a Sino-German industrial innovation platform. A Guest of Honor Nation Office was set up at the command center of the Organization Committee of WCIF to prepare plans for the exhibitions and activities related to Germany and to solicit opinions from various parties. In December 2015, the the Germany Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy visited Sichuan and met with the Sichuan Municipal Government to discuss about exhibition programs including German exhibitions and publicity of the Guest of Honor Nation. Many consensuses were reached and the related affairs and tasks are proceeding smoothly.
A dedicated Germany Exhibition Hall, which contains the exhibition areas for Germany federal and state governments, and business associations and enterprises, is set up inside the International Cooperation Exhibition Hall. The main displays will include achievements and vision of the Sino-German strategic partnership, industry 4.0, digitization, electric powered transportation, eco-friendly innovation, renewable energy and energy efficiency, creative energy technology, environmental protection, automotive and relevant industries, and tourism.
