The 16th WCIF Preparatory Work Meeting Kicks off in Beijing

On March 1, the 16^th WCIF Preparatory Work Meeting kicked off in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Xiao Weiming, Vice Minister of the Western Development Department of National Development and Reform Commission. Gan Lin, Director of the Organizing Committee and Executive Committee of WCIF, and Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Tian Jinchen, Minister of the Western Development Department of National Development and Reform Commission, made an address. Zhang Hanlin, Deputy Secretary General of Guizhou Provincial People's Government, delivered a speech on behalf of the rotating presidency unit. Zheng Li, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of WCIF and Director-General of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs, briefed on the preparatory work for the WCIF and the overall plan. The attendees included 16 principals of ministries and commissions, deputy secretary generals of provincial and municipal governments in western China, officials of organizing departments and bureaus, and responsible officers of Boao Forum for Asia.

The meeting was held under the leadership of the National Development and Reform Commission. At the meeting, the Overall Plan of the 16^th Western China International Fair and Opinions on the Institutionalized Arrangement of WCIF's Rotating Presidency Units were deliberated and approved. At the meeting, emphasis was placed on the fact that WCIF shoulders a brand new historical mission to expand domestic and international opening-up in western China and the whole nation, as a key service platform for investment promotion, trade cooperation and diplomacy service in western China. We should give full play to the important role of WCIF in the implementation of western development, "Belt and Road Initiative" and the construction of Yangtze River Economic Zone. We should stick to the philosophy of "Cooperation, Sharing and Mutual Benefits", innovate and implement cooperation mechanism, and constantly improve the quality and level of WCIF. According to the requirements raised at the meeting, the member units of the Organizing Committee of WCIF should comply with the requirements specified in the overall plan, practically strengthen coordination, press ahead with various preparatory work including events organization, exhibition, guests invitation and services safeguard, so as to make the 16^th WCIF a complete success.
